Spiritual Significance of Vaitheeswaran Kovil
Vaitheeswaran Kovil is a renowned Shiva temple located in the Mayiladuthurai district of Tamil Nadu. Lord Shiva is worshipped here as Sri Vaidyanathaswamy—the Divine Healer who cures physical, mental, and karmic afflictions.
For generations, the ancient Tamil Siddhars selected Vaitheeswaran Kovil as the sacred repository for their palm-leaf astrological records. The Valluvar community was entrusted with protecting, preserving, and correctly deciphering these holy manuscripts across centuries.
The temple is also celebrated as the primary Angarakan (Mars) Navagraha sthalam, where bathing in the holy Siddhamirtham lotus tank combined with Nadi pariharam remedies helps resolve Sevvai Dhosam and karmic obstacles.
